Week 3 for the beginners class! We’ve done lots of 6 count moves so far.
You might like to see this video http://lindyhopmoves.com/basic-6-count-rhythm/ which explains the basics with a quick-quick-slow-slow rhythm (as we did in the taster class) and then changes to using triple steps by the end of the video. This week you’ll be learning some Lindy Charleston moves.
The intermediate class is going to be looking at jig steps (or jig walks as they’re also known). We have a few leading and following exercises, and a quick turn.
Here’s a video demonstrating some of the range of stuff that’s part of Lindy hop. The band get to a rather fiddly section half way through, as jazz bands are prone to do, and then Thomas and Alice respond by getting creative with their footwork. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm_5FUOXPfY
Also, here’s a video of a group dancing the Big Apple, a group dance that the intermediates will be starting to learn next week https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGD7O_S3CRQ The Big Apple even has its own Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Apple_(dance)
