The Sounds

In the chronology of popular music, swing falls roughly between ragtime and rock and roll. You can read a comprehensive overview of the history of swing music, some notes about what makes it ‘swing’, as well as some good suggestions if you’re looking to acquire a vast CD collection on this page. Then Ron’s swing cd reviews gives reviews for swing cds, so you can read what other lindy hoppers thought of them. The Southern California Lindy Society has a page of links to cds you can buy. See also swing DJ Terry Gardner’s playlists. Out-of-copyright jazz and swing can be downloaded freeĀ from A Jazz Anthology.

You can also listen to Yehoodi internet radio, which is a 24 hour lindy hop, blues and jazz radio station.

Swing bands that we know of in the vicinity of Aberystwyth include:

  • Blue Tree
  • Roy Crawford And His Music
